Golf & Yoga…Yes!
From the Clubhouse with Tim Pade: Golf and yoga…who would have thought fans of these two activities might become one and the same? Forget your misconceptions about yoga and ask this: Do you want to increase your flexibility? Improve rotation? Do you want to increase your core strength and decrease chance of injuring your shoulders or back? Could you use improved focus and calmness on the golf course? If the answer is yes to any of these, try yoga!
In the Oct./Nov. issue of Desert Golf & Tennis, Natalie Taylor, owner of Lotus Flow Movement, in Palm Desert, California, describes four yoga poses that benefit golfers: the eagle pose shoulder stretch, twisting wide-legged forward fold, triangle pose and oblique thoracic rotation. There are yoga studios all over the world and your instructor doesn’t have to be a golfer. Set up sessions to learn the basics of yoga and ask your teacher to incorporate these poses. Properly practiced, they can benefit your overall life and your golf game.
